A photograph on Friday

Sunflowers behind Cambridge bus station, fading as summer turns into autumn (sorry to be depressing! Autumn's nice too, honestly).

We have these all around us at the moment and it makes everywhere look so sad, especially when it's grey and raining like today.
Thank you for joining my blog, I have done the same and look forward to reading your posts. I have got quite a few balls of wool, but the best I can do is to make some scarves, any other ideas for a real beginer?

That's a very interesting question - the longer answer is, I might do a blog post about it, the short answer is: do anything where gauge/ fit isn't critical (because I think those are the things that take experience). I would say dishcloths if you don't mind buying some cotton, otherwise cowls (these look fine just in stocking stitch and you can practice knitting with a circular needle), cushion covers (you can back them with fabric if you get bored), knit sampler squares and make a lap throw? (Off to go and think!).
