Things that seem like a good idea at the time, no. 1

Not only have I bought the magazine:
Where's the article on Dealing With Ground Elder Without Despairing? I suppose it must be in the Feb one
I've bought a subscription. I know I'm going to be a bit busy this year, tightening what is currently my muffin top until you can bounce a tennis ball off it, Improving My Mind Through Novels, decluttering, achieving peace in the Middle East, running 5K, getting my hair cut, painting the bathroom, knitting up miles and miles of wool and learning Stranded Colourwork, forging excoriatingly honest and authentic relationships with all my loved ones and making my own preserves, but I'm sure I'll be able to find a few odd minutes to create an Earthly Paradise in our back garden. I'm sure that Gardeners' World subscription won't be mocking me by May. I'm sure I won't be looking at Alan Titchmarsh's cheery face on the cover and feeling like hitting him on the head with a shovel! (Only gently. Not to kill him. Only enough to stun him a bit).

Off to ogle Wisterias.

Ahhh. New Year's Resolutions. Strange how they only seem real if shackled to a shell-out, isn't it? "I'm going to lose weight! And in order to do so, I have to join a gym!" (and never go.) "I'm going to learn another language!" (and buy myself a 20-CD Linguaphone set that's now gathering dust). Or "I'm going to be a model Hausfrau a la Martha Stewart!" (but I can only manage it if I have a three-year subscription to Good Housekeeping.) Sigh. I feel your pain. So does my wallet.

I am sure I couldn't create an earthly paradise even in a small flowerpot so for me magazines like that are really like fantasy novels... filled with epic struggles and guaranteed happy endings. Believe it or not one of the popular gardening magazines here in the American South is called "Garden & Gun."

Wow, you'll be so busy when will you find time to blog it all? I would get a subscription just to look at something other than cactus and sand.

I would love cactus and sand because I have got Ground Elder and brambles ;-).

Marushka - Garden & Gun! No! And we have Alan Titchmarsh! When I hear things like that I feel like I live in Trumpton.

Gingerbread Lady, yes, this is the idea, I pay the money and this will make it happen with no effort on my part. I see no flaw in that plan. *Lifts little finger to corner of mouth, thoughtfully*.

Gardening is the most fun from January-March -- you know before you actually have to start weeding! Good luck!

Thank you! ;-). The kind of gardening I like is where you make a nice cup of tea and plan things. If I'm feeling really racy I sometimes go and stand in the garden and look at a bush. Then I come in again, where it is warm.

This is a doomed endeavour.

LOL Susie, no ! Not doomed :-) I'm a gardener - it's SO rewarding, therapeutic etc ...find a type of plant you like, and then go :-) I'm a herbs and scents kinda gal myself ...
