Because for some reason Blogger won't let me comment on my own blog post (censorship!), just wanted to update that I bought the kit I was moaning about. Because I am grumpy and ill this week and didn't want to be mean to the shop, and because Partner is also ill (Partner is always grumpy though) and I have been ferrying him about, I did it from his office. I finally managed to unearth a browser the site would work on - they really do have some very pretty kits when you can see them! - and I ordered it.
Obviously the minute I had ordered it online they emailed me and said I was more than welcome to ring them or order by email...
And also, as everything about this kit is doomed, the postman tried to deliver it when I was out, and he was not the normal postman, because our normal postman always hides parcels in the hedge. So I have got to pick it up from the sorting office. Which I will do on Monday.
But... we nearly have emotional closure on this kit! It is nearly in my hands! And I am feeling much better about it now, so thank you for all your kind comments and I will be able to show you the Kit Of Bad Karma when it arrives (at which point it will be absolutely obvious where I bought it and you will have to pretend you did not read my moaning). Rather ironically, the pattern I am going to knit with it is a pattern which, through no fault at all of the designer, whose designs are great (and it is a good pattern), got itself involved with an event with quite a bit of bad karma too. How strange is this? Anyway. I shall pick up the kit, I will knit it, it will be lovely, we will get some better karma flowing through the medium of stranded knitting!
(PS quick question. We have a very lively black squirrel O_O. Does anyone else have a black squirrel? I thought they only came in red and grey).

Canada has all kinds of coloured squirrels, black, brown, grey, red... I'm sure there are even some albino ones that are white as well! I always am surprised when someone tells me they only ever had grey squirrels or black squirrels where they grew up...
All's well that ends well, or is it "all's well that ends in wool [being delivered to the house]"?
I believe they are ninja squirrels, they kick the arses of the grey squirrels.
Looking forward to seeing the kit of doom, my supreme nosiness wishes to know the shop, and the kit, and the yarn, and the pattern (my nosiness knows no bounds!)
"our normal postman always hides parcels in the hedge." I'd say he's not a very normal postman at all. ;-)
And neither is your black squirrel.
Glad you got the kit ordered! I am now intrigued as to what it is and the bad karma associated with the pattern. :O I also have serious ripple blanket envy from your previous post. That blanket is fantastic!
I have squirrel envy. I've never seen a black squirrel in the flesh, as it were. They are a mutant version of grey squirrels, seems like (according to Wiki) Cambridgeshire is a bit of a hot spot.
Yay, I'm so glad you got the kit in the end! But now I want to know the full story about the bad karma... And maybe it's a grey squirrel that fell down a chimney? =P
Black squirrels abound in Ontario -- but I know that many people have never seen one (or a grey one either) so they can be rare. I think we have mostly grey squirrels here in Boston where I live now -- but to be honest, I sort of don't notice squirrels to much as a general rule. It's like the train that you stop consciously seeing -- I see squirrels all the time, I just don't really see them anymore. No doubt tomorrow I'll be spotting them everywhere!
I'm looking forward to seeing this kit. I too want to know the story of the bad karma. Burn sage while your knitting?
I've seen black squirrels on a rare occasion back home in Rochester, NY. I've not seen one squirrel of any color since moving to the desert. Miss the little buggers. They are better than all the damn pigeons we have hanging about.
